The Western Pennsylvania Housing Directors Association is a nonprofit corporation, incorporated in 1984. Its membership area includes all the housing authorities within the jurisdiction of the Pittsburgh Field Office of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) (see map below).
WPHDA was organized: (1) to enhance communications between its member authorities, as well as with HUD and other housing-related organizations; and (2) to provide high quality educational and professional development opportunities for authority personnel.
WPHDA holds regular meetings, featuring both speakers and roundtable discussions, and sponsors several seminars each year, which provide affordable training, at convenient locations within the membership area.
Led by national and local experts, the seminars help to increase staff members’ proficiencies in their jobs and assure that they are up-to-date on all aspects of HUD’s programs. They also cover general housing authority operations, such as financial and human resources management. Overall, they improve member authorities’ service to their clients and their communities.
All meetings and training sessions are open to both WPHDA member and non-member personnel.
